Domestic and personal care services

Program Profile
This important program delivers domestic and personal services designed to enable seniors and other individuals to remain living safely at home.

Services may include, but are not limited to, meal preparation, shopping, personal care, cleaning and laundry. Medical assistance is not included in this service.

In Home Service recipients may receive care from Independent Providers, who are often family members, neighbors and friends, or from a registry of individuals who have been interviewed and screened by service coordinators.

The role of this program is to help individuals arrange for these in-home services and coordinate their delivery.

Eligibility
Service eligibility when utilizing government funding is determined by the Santa Clara County Social Services office. The program was originally designed for seniors, blind and disabled individuals who qualify for Medi-Cal, however the service is now also available to any individual able to pay directly for services.

Cost and Assistance
Funding for In Home Services is principally financed through federal, state and local resources in conjunction with the utilization of Medi-Cal.
